Living the life of a good person is usually harder than living the life of a bad person.

Try harder.

In order to live the life of a good person....

You need to understand what it means to live the life of a bad person....

And do the opposite.

It is possible to be a BAD person and not know it.

And, by "bad", I mean prone to making immoral actions and to degrading the progress of your community, the species, or the Earth's ecosystem.

There are a lot of bad people out there.

Hypothesis: The percentage is decreasing.
But, we're becoming more aware of their existence. So, it seems like they are increasing.

"we've all seen the Mitch McConnell sex tape....". - Stephen Colbert

Fuck.
Trump is in my neighborhood at a fundraiser.
All his freaky followers are here in trucks and prayer circles.
I'm locking the doors.

Nevertheless, growing out of the scar is your responsibility. Nobody else's. No blame can be cast on others. Only, maybe, towards yourself for supporting your own timidity.

Thinking about my childhood a lot lately. Unsure why.

Insight:
While you have control over who you become, you start from a reference point. You can only deviate from that point.

Like a tree that grows around an obstacle, it is still originally planted somewhere.

And, if scarred early on, it carries it onwards.

It might be able to "grow out of the scar", but the scar is still there.

Some scars make you stronger.

Some keep you from reaching your potential because of when they happened

The colors are getting better.
Enjoy the sunset over the Golden Gate.

My COVID pod is sharing photos of the sunset tonight. Wacky group. :-). Nice to have friends nearby.

Just developed a new skill.
I silver-leafed my wife's shoes.
They were scuffed up and she's attending a big event in NYC this week. She wanted to wear these shoes and made a mess of them on our vacation.

I might try some art using silver and gold leaf.

At an earlier time in my life there would have been a fight.

Reading Marcus Aurelius gave me just the guidance I needed.

Some people have serious problems.
Those problems are not your problems.
Don't make them your problem.

Safely home from a 2-week vacation.
Almost not.
At the airport baggage claim conveyor I stepped into a gap between people to see if I could see a bag. The guy behind me started yelling at me.
I turned around and encountered a red-faced, wet-eyed man in his 30's ready to kill me. Apparently I blocked his view of the conveyor.

I stared at him.
Locked eyes for 5 seconds to show I wasn't afraid of him.

I turned around and ignored him, showing him my back in case he wanted to sucker-punch me.

Union Street Festival.
Everyone is celebrating the San Francisco Doom Loop. :-)

Now the shitshow begins.
Brace yourself, America.
