After 20 years of sitting on it, my Aeron chair has failed me.
Dropped right to the floor.
Squat position.

Never fear! A few Youtube videos and a new gas cylinder is on its way to rescue it.

Finally, after 9 years, I designed the medicine cabinet to fit into the custom archway in our guest bathroom.
My wife will soon be without a topic to nag me about. 🙂

@Render Russia’s 64th Separated Motorized Brigade — another responsible for mass rape, torture and executions in Bucha — just suffered severe losses in the Kharkiv region and was largely destroyed per MOD

This is the San Francisco COVID cases.
Each red line is Easter, July 4th and Christmas.

COVID is really starting to explode, again, in San Francisco. This data is 5 days old, too.
Fortunately it is only 1/5 as bad as mid-January.
I know know 3 people with active COVID cases, including my wife who is stuck in London.

If you think "it couldn't happen here", consider this:

- People we consider "bad" don't think they are bad

- People have a propensity to consider the good intentions of others, otherwise we could not function as a society

- People directed by a spiritual path discount rationality

- Most people cannot discern between true and false information

- Incrementally changing the baseline (i.e. How we do things here) allows the next incremental change and makes people comfortable with the result

What a fantastic PBS NewsHour tonight!
Information, culture, perspective.

So now my birthday party is officially cancelled for this weekend.
I couldn't imagine having a party without my lovely wife. (She's suck in London with COVID)

Not that I'd feel that bad partying without her. Don't get me wrong!

Just that the party is mostly comprised of her friends and they have a track record of bailing at the last minute and leaving me with a lot of expensive food and wine.

So, I'll be opening a very nice bottle of wine and sending out photos of it to them.
Yes, I'm mean

One of the benefits of having my wife stuck in London with COVID: I get to buy and eat anything I want from the grocery store!
<so I bought just about everything she would have bought + 3 bananas>

@Render A friend of mine believes that if a passive material (like nails or epoxy) could be delivered into the barrel of a tank, it would render it useless if a shell were to be fired through it.
Have you heard of anyone considering this?

On Saturday, California was powered just shy of 100% - 99.87% - by renewables, a record-breaker. Huge win for energy that is cheaper, cleaner, and safer.

"Two thirds of the 18,000 megawatts needed was provided by solar power loaded into the energy grid — or 12,391 megawatts. The rest came from wind, geothermal and other renewable sources."

The Wife is doing fine today. Definitely on the downside of the infection.

She navigated to a London hotel where she will wait until her test is negative.

Meanwhile, I've started to defrost more ambiguous bags of, I believe, food from the freezer.

The Pro-Choice movement needs to re-brand the Pro-Life movement as "Pro-Oppression" and "Pro-Oppressors".

Now we think she caught it at home before she left 10 days ago.
I'm going out to buy a testing kit for myself.

Fuck.

My wife just tested positive for COVID.

And she's stuck in Europe on a business trip that was ending tomorrow. (We live in the US)

It's going to be a challenging week.

G'night everybody.
Stay civil.
Keep it in perspective.
