Shocking, but in a good way. The liveuamap.com/ map has no Red/Russian occupation zones north of Kyiv.

Belarusians fighting back however they can. I also heard, from an informed friend, of their veterans going to Ukraine to fight for Ukrainians.

A friend of mine with close contacts in Ukraine tells me that many Russian soldiers are being abandoned by their officers. Many are switching to fight for the Ukrainians instead of deserting and returning home. Their families are being threatened if they are found to be deserters. And, many are being forced to sign a contract so that they can be called "contractors" instead of soldiers.

The semi-daily update:

Ukr counter attacks continue around the map. Ukr forces rapidly gaining confidence as the Russian troops morale plummets.

Russians being pushed back NW of Kyiv and NE of Kyiv, losing key towns and road intersections.

The siege of Sumy has been broken and Ukr forces are back to raiding supply columns attempting to bypass the city.

Ukr forces in Kharkiv have broken out to the east and are liberating towns held by the Russians since the 1st day of the war.

...

I'd like to see metrics on the following:
- Qty of Russian tanks destroyed before firing a shot
- Qty of Russian tank munitions that failed to fire
- Qty of Russian tank crews that abandoned their vehicle and A) Ran home, B) Found a Ukrainian to surrender to
.. and finally...
- Qty of dead Russians that actually wanted to kill Ukrainians
My anger is directed at them.

But, many are young, ignorant and/or threatened.
That's where it gets sad and tragic.

Russian soldiers are savages.

What I would like to know is how much of their savagery is via the culture in the Russian armed forces, and/or how much is due to the Russian culture itself.

My current opinion is boarding on racism. But, if a homogeneous culture is dominated by savages, and seems to continually create savages, doesn't it deserve broad judgement?

That would be a tank turret unceremoniously detached from it's standard location and lofted skywards.

Apparently WW2 has not ended between Japan and Russia:

"Russia and Japan have still not formally ended World War II hostilities because of the standoff over islands just off Japan's northernmost island of Hokkaido"

Everything we think we know about the world is a model. - Donella H. Meadows

Imagine standing in front of a thousand people. All of them are staring at you. Then they all drop dead.
Then, you get up in the morning and one thousand new people are staring back at you and standing on the bodies from yesterday. Then they all drop dead.
Do that for 2 years.

That's COVID in the US alone.

Holy fuck, are we a resilient animal or what?

The US is still experiencing a THOUSAND DEATHS A DAY from COVID.
I know this isn't "news", but the lack of news discussing it sure shows how numb we are 2 years into this pandemic.

I'm expecting the terrorism to come from outside of Russia.

I'm surprised we're not seeing terrorist strikes within Russia.
There are plenty of angry people and plenty of funding to support them.
Maybe it is happening, but there are no western journalists still reporting outside of Moscow?

OH DEAR. THIS POST WAS SET TO SELF-DETONATE 💣 💥 🔥
