@b4cks4w
Yikes!
Well, I was asking because my friend became the director of the CA DMV and he revamped the IT operations and it's a lot more efficient now.

Belarusians fighting back however they can. I also heard, from an informed friend, of their veterans going to Ukraine to fight for Ukrainians.

@Render
If the Russians are so poor at training their soldiers and running a war, I wonder how capable they are at assembling tactical group from the rag-tag survivors still willing to fight.

@Render
"covering fire". Very interesting. Lots of air raid sirens on CNN when they are covering Kyiv today.

A friend of mine with close contacts in Ukraine tells me that many Russian soldiers are being abandoned by their officers. Many are switching to fight for the Ukrainians instead of deserting and returning home. Their families are being threatened if they are found to be deserters. And, many are being forced to sign a contract so that they can be called "contractors" instead of soldiers.

What you didn't call out is that it takes 100k years for the photons to escape to the surface after the fusion that created them.

Or they are executing all of the experiments/tests they wanted to do.

@Render
A sober assessment of the nuclear scenarios. Excellent read!

@Render
I suppose, someday, people will collect and count up the unexploded tank rounds and we'll have some idea how well they worked.

The semi-daily update:

Ukr counter attacks continue around the map. Ukr forces rapidly gaining confidence as the Russian troops morale plummets.

Russians being pushed back NW of Kyiv and NE of Kyiv, losing key towns and road intersections.

The siege of Sumy has been broken and Ukr forces are back to raiding supply columns attempting to bypass the city.

Ukr forces in Kharkiv have broken out to the east and are liberating towns held by the Russians since the 1st day of the war.

...

@Render
Thanks for the copious insights!
On option "c": Can a tank crew be easily repurposed in combat? Do they typically get re-assigned to another tank, or back to the infantry?

I'd like to see metrics on the following:
- Qty of Russian tanks destroyed before firing a shot
- Qty of Russian tank munitions that failed to fire
- Qty of Russian tank crews that abandoned their vehicle and A) Ran home, B) Found a Ukrainian to surrender to
.. and finally...
- Qty of dead Russians that actually wanted to kill Ukrainians
My anger is directed at them.

But, many are young, ignorant and/or threatened.
That's where it gets sad and tragic.

@WeThePeople
Now you made me want another glass of wine. Maybe vodka, now.

@phase
Maybe after months or years of war. But these shitheads have been in the fight for a few weeks. They seem too comfortable with savagery.

@phase
Maybe the overarching act of war.
But, when soldiers rape and torture non-combatants, that's a personal savagery.

Russian soldiers are savages.

What I would like to know is how much of their savagery is via the culture in the Russian armed forces, and/or how much is due to the Russian culture itself.

My current opinion is boarding on racism. But, if a homogeneous culture is dominated by savages, and seems to continually create savages, doesn't it deserve broad judgement?
