@Bemet_Or Pretty sure that was done for the benefit of the USMC and their crayon eaters.

If you can draw it in grease pencil on a plastic covered map, than you can share it with an allied soldier from another NATO nation, overcoming any language barriers fairly quickly.

Damn, I'm glad you provided that link. I've been wondering toooo long what those symbols meant.

So, the 57th is a motorized infantry brigade, 2k-20k. That makes them a lot more nimble.

Seems like a lot of the mechanized (tank) forces are widely dispersed. I suppose the Ukr army isn't planning to use that asset type as a primary defense.

Russians advance blindly down roads.

Ukr ambushes advance (see video).

Russians withdraw to regroup.

Ukr withdraws to pre-prepared positions.

Russia shells empty ambush point. Creating additional fortifications out of rubble and shell holes.

Ukr returns to first positions.

Russians advance into another ambush.

Rinse and repeat.

Yes, 57th is a Motor Infantry Brigade. And like most of the Ukrainian army, they're dodging in between Russian artillery salvos.

Motorized means wheeled APC"s (BTR series mostly).

Mechanized means tracked APC's (BMP series mostly).

Armored means tanks (almost entirely).

Ukr has been using their mech/motor brigades like fireman, responding to wherever the Russians push hardest.

sigh - this just became a two part response, bear with me...

@jurban @Bemet_Or Ukr 92nd and 93rd Mech in particular have bounced all over the battle line from the north all the way to the Donbas. Every time they hit the Russians, they drive them back. But the Ukr had committed only one of its 5 tank brigades up to about 3 weeks ago. The Ukr 1st Arm Bri is still rebuilding NE of Kyiv after standing off 3 Russian Armies almost by itself.

The other Ukr tank brigades are fresh, and they're pissed off.
