@jurban To be fair, I don’t think the Russian Orthodox Church falls under the authority of the Roman Catholic Church. I have no love for any organized religion, so I don’t give a damn about either of them.

But a religious leader has a marginally-greater credibility than a political authority on these matters.
And people follow the positions of religious leaders.
