@Razdawg22 Well, yeah. I haven’t seen any other folks acting as a candidate for president among Democrats. Have you? But I’ve seen Biden’s stumbles - too many to be ignored. You can’t beat someone with no one, and right now all we have is Biden. It’s a fix we’re in, no doubt about it. Biden could still win, but I no longer like his chances. And the prospect of another Trump presidency scares me to death.

@Razdawg2 Jet, yes, it’s my opinion. But so is yours that Biden is the only candidate able to beat Trump.

My opinion is based on what I’ve seen in his appearances in recent weeks, including that debate. He had a good SOTU speech, and I was encouraged by that, including some extemporaneous comebacks to hecklers. But what I’ve seen since then worries me.

Your opinion has nothing to back it up, really, except hypothetical polls involving non-candidates. But he’ll still get my vote by default.

I’ve expressed my reservations about Biden and endured the only-Biden-is-the answer backlash. All I can say now is I hope you all will be laughing at me come November. I’lll gladly take that abuse!

@Idissent If disparaging my intelligence is how you want to buttress your argument, I have nothing more to say to you.

I’ve expressed my reservations about Biden and endured the only-Biden-is-the answer backlash. All I can say now is I hope you all will be laughing at me come November. I’lll gladly take that abuse!

@Idissent Let’s say Biden manages to win in November. Yay! We’ve saved democracy! But we’ll have an enfeebled president. Is that what you want? Will Biden’s frailties get better as he gets even older? If Biden, with his growing negatives, can beat Trump, so can someone who at least looks vital and energetic, and can respond to the dire threats posed by Trump coherently, off the cuff, without a Teleprompter.

@Idissent There is no “miracle” candidate. We’ve been dealt a bad hand. We had a chance to overcome the age concern among voters and beat Trump before that debate disaster and subsequent revelations that keep trickling out, but I don’t see anything to turn this around now if Biden stays in the race.

@Oma_Trisha Bury your head in the sand or stick fingers in your ears and go na-na-na if you must, but I want to defeat Trump in November!

@Idissent So you’ve given up, I take it. I like Biden and think he’s done an admirable job as president. But going forward, do you think crises will be scheduled so they only occur during daylight hours - the time after which Biden has stated he won’t do any events? C’mon.

@LlamaMountainStudioArts I’m hardly an ageist! A lot of folks function quite well - and better than Biden - when even older than he is.

Catch-22: (Assuming Biden wants to do what’s best for the country) He waits to see if his popularity among voters increases to a lead over Trump; if that doesn’t happen, it will then be too late to bow out in favor of a more effective alternative.

And what is the wait for? What likely events before November will improve his electoral standing rather than make it worse? Yeah, Trump could die, but that’s a sucker’s bet. What else?

The danger, after Biden’s disastrous debate performance, is not that voters will now flock to Trump. It is that voters who are anti-Trump will simply not vote. The undecided need a positive reason to vote Democratic in November. Bill Maher has said he’d vote for Biden’s head in a jar to prevent a Trump win. But he’s not happy with that choice, and neither are millions of other voters.

There’s going to be a delay in Trump’s sentencing in his New York conviction. Why am I not surprised? Has there been any procedure in the saga of Trump prosecutions that hasn’t been delayed/postponed/put off indefinitely? The defense throws every obstacle they can think of at the wall, and the judges - to look fair - are letting many of them stick. And even when decisions are finally made (still waiting), appeals will delay further as they head for - you guessed it - the Supreme Court.

Henceforth, I will stop referring to the highest court as SCOTUS, but instead will call it by its rightful name: SCOT - Supreme Court of Trump. And they might now be on an undeserved vacation, but they’ll be back one month before the election - time enough to do more damage to Dem prospects if they expedite things. And they will.

@n8evans If only they could do that instead of hand-wringing.

@n8evans But Dems don’t know how to play the long game! If they did, the disastrous 2010 election wouldn’t have happened.
