@dauphin87 How about this? The chyron during a Nicole Wallace show read, Trump concerned about Pecker leaks.

@TemporaryTraveler Yes, but they intentionally distracted from the here-and-now issue by wondering what can be considered official acts in the future. OMG, better send the case back down for a thorough hearing on this matter!

Jim Jordan going after Coca-Cola is sure to help Republicans in Georgia. Not!

@gshevlin A coup would be their only option unless they have a landslide Senate victory in November, giving them a 2/3 majority. Even more daunting would be changing the Constitution.

@gshevlin Just look at the history of high draft pick QBs who failed and those far down in the pecking order who became stars. As one pundit today said, “They don’t know!”

@tgraph52 Sure why not go for a unanimous Court? Republicans controlling the Senate would be a disaster, and right now they’re in the driver’s seat.

Or how about this: “Nobody is entitled to absolute immunity unless they’re Republican government officials or relatives of same.”

@tgraph52 Okay, I get it - I think. So if a president refuses to leave and thus opens himself to prosecution - when he finally does go, the solution will be for him to never leave. Still a convoluted argument.

@AskTheDevil I’m not the cynic you are - yet - but I hear you.

@johnldeboer Also, keep in mind, there are people who consider what they were able to destroy as their legacy.

@AskTheDevil Don’t they care about their legacy? That these particular justices could go down in history as being responsible for destroying the Supreme Court, not as just another institution, but as 1/3 of the three-legged stool that is vital for our democracy? Alito pretends to care in his rants about the press impugning the Court’s integrity - for no reason! Thomas obviously doesn’t care at all. Roberts, as the putative leader, cares, but he’s impotent. Ditto the 3 outgunned liberal women.

@AskTheDevil What SCOTUS doesn’t realize is that, if Trump gets elected, he’ll ignore any future rulings by the Court he doesn’t like. SCOTUS has no army, no enforcement capability. It depends on the other branches of government merely acceding to its status as the end-all and be-all of Constitutional authority without the power to back it up.

Tomorrow, on the last day of hearing oral arguments for the year, the Supreme Court will entertain Trump’s absolute immunity claim. SCOTUS has already demonstrated its affinity for Trump by one, taking the case to begin with; two, for putting a stay on the appeals court decision that no such immunity exists; and three, putting off the hearing until the last possible day in the session. But it took them less than a month to decide in favor of Trump in the Colorado ballot case. Need I say more?

Mind boggling! Voyager 1 and Voyager 2, launched in 1977, are 15 and 12 billion miles, respectively, from Earth. It takes about two days to send them a signal and receive one back. It would take another 400 years for the spacecraft to travel the distance light does in one year. And another 1200 years to reach the distance of the next nearest star besides our sun. And another 21,000 years to reach the distance of the nearest galaxy outside of the Milky Way.

@grrlscientist Homelessness bans are not enforceable. Period. These people don’t have money, so fines are worthless. Locking them up? Really? We’ll have jails full of street people on the taxpayer’s dime? Are we going back to debtors’ prisons? I don’t know how SCOTUS will rule on this, but I suspect Grant’s Pass will get the go-ahead to do something punitive. Yes, I agree, those towns would like the homeless among us to just go away - either die or become another town’s problem.
