I have work email on my phone that I look at time to.time but don't respond to outside of work. Today, my boss's boss, sent me a text asking me to reply to an email.

I responded, "Am I getting paid to do it?"

He: Of course not, you choose to remain hourly when you got promoted."

Me: Exactly

He: We need to have a meeting when you get here tonight."

Me: I hope it's in HR where the difference between an exempt and non-exempt employee are made clear.

He: 🦗🦗🦗🦗🦗🦗

I ❤️ tweaking his nose.

@knomia He's arguably created liability simply by asking you to work off the clock.

@jkfecke Just wanted to let you know, HR agrees. If direct contact with me is required during "off hours" it will cost the company 2 hrs pay per incidence. I am welcome to respond to emails from home IF I choose to but will not be compensated for that time.

@knomia Exactly as it should be. I have non-exempt reports and I tell them to *always* track their time if something happens outside their work hours. People deserve to get paid when they work.
