This could completely end our dependence on fossil fuels. Engines would probably still need oil for lubrication but that could be a refined vegetable oil. And if that works, it could also work for the larger engines that generate electricity for the grid. And if that works, it's all over. No more need for fossil fuels. Our 100 year nightmare with fossil fuels is over.

@jjGravitas As someone from the Detroit area, who's worked at the big three, and has family who work for them also; this is not new. There were pretty credible rumors about this back in the 90s!
@DrRamey Adapt or die. That is our choice.
I still think EV's are the wave of the future, especially if they can get their power from solar, but a hybrid EV in which the secondary engine is powered by water/hydrogen sounds like the best of both worlds.
