Christmas is a sad Season for some. As we begin our festivities, remember those who've lost loved ones. Remember those who are depressed. Remember the homeless. Remember those who've lost a job. Remember those who've lost a pet. Remember the hungry. Remember those with no family or friends. Remember the elderly. Remember the sick & shut in. Remember those with no heat. Remember those with no reason to celebrate. Remember all of them and more, and if you can, show them some love🤶

@Irishroze That's amazing and inspiring!
@corlin Ooh, very interesting!
@th3j35t3r @daniel Wow!
Good article from Reuters about some of the events in Hong Kong last night - things have definitely escalated: https://www.reuters.com/article/us-hongkong-protests/at-hong-kong-university-a-daring-escape-but-fears-of-bloodshed-idUSKBN1XR0O2
@Sharon_Elle I often lurk for lack of free time - but I think that's still an important form of participation!
I often disappear from CoSo (and the internet in general) for days on end when my work deadlines are pressing, but I always feel like I can come back here and feel at home anytime. It's like the neighborhood diner or pub where people wander in and out, but the conversation is always happening. Signing up for #CosoPro is a no-brainer for me!
The Kincaid Fire in Sonoma is really something else - evacuation map shows a HUGE area, and it's 10% contained as of now. Link to source here: https://sonomacounty.maps.arcgis.com/apps/webappviewer/index.html?id=2cb4401e1fc0494dbf9d9e22aa794617

Millions facing a critical wildfire threat in California
I hate having to do this.
November is next month. It's the most expensive month COSO has to navigate.
Participation inside COSO will always be free. Protections are the same for Non-Pro or Pro members alike.
But if you were thinking of going PRO, now's a great time.
It's a cup of coffee per month.
Peace. 🙏
PG&E confirmed it would begin power shut-offs in the Bay Area Saturday.
The number of affected customers rose from 850,000 to 940,000. Read the full six-phase plan here:

@amarand What fun!
A long read, but a fascinating article about California's wildfire risk and power disasters: https://www.vox.com/energy-and-environment/2019/10/22/20916820/california-wildfire-climate-change-blackout-insurance-pge
Couch potato. Enjoy history, science-ey stuff, and Bay Area fog! I follow people who seem to have interesting things to say/share
