These photos I took on the summit of Mount Baker in winter. Baker is an active volcano in the Northern Cascades. To the east you can see Mt. Shuksan poking it's head above the clouds. We were on that peak as well the very next day. I only have a few photos because the cold killed my camera battery because we had negative 60Β°F windchill temps (-60Β°F). Brr..

Polar-aligned Nikon DSLR on a tripod. Set digiCam to 80sec exposures, 90 minutes worth. Just point your camera at Polaris (a binary star), set it and forget it. Then stack 'em up. Anyone in the Northern Hemisphere can do this.
