Polar-aligned Nikon DSLR on a tripod. Set digiCam to 80sec exposures, 90 minutes worth. Just point your camera at Polaris (a binary star), set it and forget it. Then stack 'em up. Anyone in the Northern Hemisphere can do this.

My best M42, Orion Nebula. This was a stack of 120 x 30sec frames taken with a Toshiba APS-C. Just a Nikon t-ring, 80ED APO refractor with field flattener on EQ5 tracking mount.

80mm OTA with 0.85 focal reducer/field flattener
Toshiba APS-C sensor
120Γ—30sec exp
digiCam
Autostakkert
Photoshop + Lightroom

Hope you enjoy!
