TFW when you're blasting your 90s grunge station while you write your 90s grunge book and FUCKING GREEN DAY SIDLES ONTO THE PLAYLIST.

@ianthealy what? Why? I was a teen in the nineties, and while Green Day wasn’t my fav they def were part of the scene? Or are you arguing they were strictly punk?

@catie I was in my 20s in the 90s. I consider Green Day pop punk and not part of the grunge movement. STP, Pearl Jam, Nirvana, Screaming Trees, Candlebox, Veruca Salt. :)

Also, sometimes you just want to tell Green Day to fuck right off. I'm sure they'd understand.

@ianthealy oh I get that reaction. But at the same I grew up with them, they very much understood the nihilism we were facing. And they were surprisingly progressive. Grunge was a lot more about the message than the sound, and I think Green Day got the message,

@catie I rediscovered Paw through this playlist. I'd forgotten about them except for their tracks on the Road Rash soundtrack (if anybody remembers that). Man, talk about a band that never made it big and really should have.

@ianthealy that’s new to me. I’m looking it up now.

@catie Check out their songs Dragline and Jessie. I'm a cynical old bastard and they both bring a lump to my throat.
