Jung agrees with Girard about mimesis. it's hazardous.
"Imitation includes
the idea of suggestibility, suggestive effect, and mental
infection.
we see daily how the mechanism of imitation is used,
or rather abused, for the purposes of personal differentiation;
some prominent personality, or peculiar trait or activity is
simply imitated

re: the recent question concerning the Roman dodecahedron and its use.
some say it wasn't for knitting because no early artifacts.
hmmm.
here are some actually existing knitting tools using the same basic method. the dodecahedron shape is more versatile. glove fingers are just the beginning.
rope, nets, leggings, sleeves, socks, bags, depending on size.
here's a couple descendants⤵️

just came across this, seems à propos from yesterday's conversation.
“Bhagavan, are words ultimate truth? Or is what they express ultimate truth?”
"The Buddha replied, “Mahamati, words are not ultimate truth,
nor is what they express ultimate truth. And how so?
Ultimate truth is what buddhas delight in.
And what words lead to is ultimate truth.
But words are not ultimate truth."

a thought for Saturday in these "interesting times".
"To know where the other person makes a mistake is of little value.
It only becomes interesting when you know where you make the mistake,
for then you can do something about it.
What we can improve in others is of doubtful utility as a rule,
if, indeed, it has any effect at all."
Jung, Aion, conclusion from a lifetime of practice 🙏🏻
Note Bene.
covid shot, 2nd day, after a day of no side effects.
arrrrghhh, every joint complaining, back aching to 9.
a little and slow exercise, very slow very gentle, moving all the joints 😖
gradually, they lubricate and move more easily.
qigong slapping and vibration gently all over, focus on joints.
after ½ hour, feeling alive again, still a bit of back pain, but the bed of nails is working on it. joints tender but moveable ✌🏽
so, if that's the vax, i definitely do not want the real thing
"The collective unconscious contains both good and evil and seems
to be a vast storehouse of experience both past and potential.
Jung found that as psychic energy touched new depths in the collective unconscious,
it brought into the conscious certain images that fell into fairly
patterns.
These archetypes manifested themselves when the mind seemed off guard, often in dreams and reveries.
Jung classified them into three
stages according to the psychic depth from which they emerged."
"What Jung called the "collective unconscious" resembles the Tathagatagarbha of the Lankavatara sutra.
it lies below the ego-centered personal unconscious and conscious. they make up a totality called the psyche.
the collective unconscious aspect of the psyche transcends the individual, while remaining immanent. It contains traces of psychic impulses and behavior tendencies ingrained in the individuals, body-mind from the experiences of previous generations."

those "who fear suffering that comes from their projection of samsara seek nirvana
unaware that the difference between samsara and nirvana, as well as their projection of everything else
does not exist.
They conceive of nirvana as the cessation of all future sensory realms
not as the transformation of repository consciousness through the personal realization of buddha knowledge.
Instead, they are attached to perception of a realm outside the mind and keep turning the wheel of samsara."
the distinction between logic and lifeworld,
between concepts and direct personal experience,
lived experience.
logic doesn't transform, but personal direct experience does.
not attained by argument,. not Thomism or any system of logic, mathematics included. all these are "just words and projections".
here's something that makes even Red Pine's head hurt, a morning challenge.
"The cause of other schools does not qualify as eternal and inconceivable.
what other schools claim is eternal and inconceivable is not the result of its own causal attribute.
my ultimate truth is eternal and inconceivable because ultimate truth is the result of
a causal attribute that transcends existence and nonexistence.
Because the attainment of personal realization is its attribute, it has an attribute."

together with the minutest sensory objects and sensory material of the various sense organs,
and with it arise external realms

its waves of consciousness never cease."

Dharmas and non-dharmas are likened to flames,
among which any distinction must be conventional, as with waves in the sea.
As with flames and waves, distinctions of an object’s development are likewise conventional, pragmatic, mind produced.
Everything is in constant flux in time, just as everything is indivisible in space.
Dharmas aren’t the problem. The problem is
attachment to the distinctions on which dharmas are based.
The homeland of nothing whatsoever is the true abode.
