So, did I ever tell y'all about that time I almost literally, not metaphorically, but really and for reals actually literally, almost died?

It was yesterday:

I was coming down an A road in rural , so single track and mud verges and ditches either side, yup. I was driving at what, for legal reasons, we shall describe as a safe and prudent speed in my lorry. Came round a corner, and coming up the other way was another lorry moving at the same safe and prudent speed as me. And I looked at him, he looked at me, and we both stood on the brakes for all that it was worth.

I saw his load shift over his cab,

I thought, legitimately, that was it. That this was some real shit. Anyway, when the trucks finally came to rest, we were so close I actually thought the cabs had come into contact. We were so close that if the windscreens weren't there we could've leant forward and shook hands.

Both of us sat there blocking that road for a good five minutes getting out breaths back, and working out how to get two Class 1 lorries by each other on such a tiny road, but mainly we talked about how we both thought that was going to be it, and how it just doesn't get much closer than that.
