My pharmacy has a giant long message before getting to the phone menu. Not legally-required stuff either, just ads for services.

When you get to where you could ask for the pharmacy, it asks you a bunch of questions, but then no matter how you answer, it transfers you immediately to the one pharmacist that is on duty, who is not given _any_ of that information.

Why do this? Is it done just to create friction in the process and slow down calls?

@AskTheDevil

sounds damn pointless to me. if the information was passed along to prep whomever, fine, but you're just talking to a void?

wtf?

@holon42 Right? Do they record this all for posterity or something? Are they collecting data (or evidence) to use against me?

Because the info is not being used to help me, nor to help the pharmacy staff.
