@LnzyHou @holon42 in the last years of my dad’s life we had many discussions about what was his “red line”. And over time as his condition declined he reassessed what that line was as he crossed them. I support death with dignity and understand the need for safeguards. Coping, mental states, and other circumstances can change. Sorry, no proposal suggested, just a reflection. An infection took him out before his underlying diagnoses did.
Have a friend in NC who is retired gerontological MD. She said most elderly pass from pneumonia.

@holon42 funny that so many people are on board with “my body, my choice” in the context of abortion, but not so with suicide.

@holon42 Up here in the Great White North, we have Medical Assistance In Dying or M.A.I.D.
We've had it for a few years now. Haven't noticed anyone getting all 'outcry' about it. There were a few cases during COVID-19 of HCWs recommending MAID to disabled people and getting caught, but in general, yea, pretty quiet.
So why are people upset at Switzerland? We've been at it for YEARS up here....🤷♂️
it seems it's because the pod method doesn't follow the guidelines regarding method that is getting the authorities in Switzerland upset.
it would happen here too🇨🇦
if we started using those pods to depart when we want to.
the rules, made by "experts". don't want deviations.
