yes, it's the case. there was a lot of travel and traffic to and from the far east in the ancient world. they were quite cosmopolitan.
i've been convinced for quite awhile that Jesus encountered these teachings somewhere, and had a lived experience that he was trying to bring to his people.
he didn't have to travel far to meet buddhist practitioners.

I first read the Dhammapada when I was 21 or 22, and carried a copy in my pocket for years.

i encountered buddhism young as well, at 19, in Vancouver's Yoga Vedanta bookstore. at that point i was living hippy style.

i was raised Catholic, and have over the years worked my way through many belief systems in reading and studying, including two decades of in depth study of Catholic traditions.
buddhist practice opens the mind to the power of metaphors and myths while avoiding becoming possessed by them.
one can then fully appreciate their beauty and depth.
and daily life becomes transformed.ππ»βπ½
