A visiting nurse told my DIL that their squirrels were fat. Wonder if the daily feeding of peanuts in the shell are responsible?
my squirrels are still chunky when they'd normally be thin this time of year. it's the peanuts and the BOSS. i'm currently cutting back. they need to spread out.
My DIL’s squirrels have to battle a blue jay who sits in a tree then zooms in & steals the peanuts. Never even lands.
i've got Blue Jays too. same story. i have a large spring circle feeder that holds peanuts, which i hang in various places. Jays usually see it first, then there's a battle of wits and dexterity to empty it.

My DIL’s mother almost 100 yrs old hand feeds them every day. It’s her joy.
it is a joy that i hope to continue until death. if i were to die out there and not be found for a month or so, i'd be happy with thst👌🏽
We share a birthday in July. She will be 100 yrs old. She loves to be my Co-pilot in the van.
