religion is the tool. human nature is the culprit. any belief system will suffix if it's strong enough.
until recently, only mythology had the power to incite murderous intentions to that extent.
we are witnessing the final failure in America of a deteriorating mythology, with no replacement available, for a significant number of people, who are now desperately clinging to the flotsam and jetsam in the wake of shipwreck.
and violence follows.
