Ummm, say again?

Is anyone else scared shitless that we might actually default? I mean this is completely and utterly insane! I've been looking at Biden and Yellin's options in a realistic light and it just doesn't look good. Honestly, I don't see a downside to just ignoring Congress while it plays out in the courts. Or, agree to GOP demands and then renege. I mean, what are they actually gonna do?
It occurs to me what a tight feedback loop exists between humans and computing devices. In particular, video games and social media. In the first, the game plays the child just as much as the child plays the game. My son becomes a dick for a short while when that loop is broken. Social media is kind of like the same loop for adults except we're more likely to be dicks when we're in the loop (and mostly anonymous). It's not a perfect analogy but it works for me.
One of my favorite songs of the last 15 years. An example of the amazing synergy between two fantastic musicians (James Mercer of the Shins and Brian Burton of Danger Mouse). Enjoy!
The High Road - Broken Bells
Does anyone know what the process is for an agreement between the Executive and the Legislative? Is it legally binding or is it just based on political capital? That's to say, suppose for argument's sake that Biden agreed to GOP demands for budget cuts and then Congress raised the ceiling. Putting aside the notion that Biden can't force the Senate to accept anything (and Biden's integrity), what's to prevent Biden from simply reneging after the crisis is over?

Modern GOP: Our cruelty knows no bounds.
Good Humans: Our creativity knows no bounds.
My brush with heaven. Just saw Brooke Shields' Pretty Baby biopic and I was blown away! September 1984: I was a 14 year old nerdy kid attending RainbowFest (computer conference) at the Hyatt Regency in Princeton. My dad and I went downstairs for a quick bite to eat and we saw her with her mom. I came up to the table and all I could muster was "Hi". She politely said "Hello" and I scurried off. Here's a picture that I wish I had taken (found recently in Rainbow Magazine and upscaled with AI).

All good things... let's show the cynical and the hateful how the digital world is supposed to work.
