@CherNohio Thanks! In three weeks, I will be attending a Night Sky Photography Workshop in Michigan's Upper Pennisula. I'm hoping for a few good shots while there too!

@gettinaway
That sounds intriguing. I hope you do and will share them with us! I really do love your photography.

@CherNohio I've been staying at my mothers since January. Shes been under hospice care for 7 months now. I did this for my dad too. My youngest brother has been here staying with her since the pandemic started. They enrolled me into the workshop as a thank you/birthday gift. It takes place in the Seney Wildlife Refuge in Michigan's Upper Pennisula. There are just 10 spots in the workshop and will be in the refuge from 7pm-3am. After that I'm take a few days to chase waterfalls sunsets.

@gettinaway @CherNohio

The UP has some beautiful sky because there's nothing up there to pollute the light from the stars! I'd love to see what you get. Sometimes the northern lights can be seen. Your pictures are gorgeous, I'm sure it'll be a treat to see them.

@Irishroze @CherNohio Thank you! I have spent a lot of my life camping and exploring the UP. So, I will be retracing steps. After three nights in Seney I have a room for three more nights near Munising. I plan on chasing waterfalls during the days and sunset and stars at night on Lake Superior. The Northern Lights would be a really nice extra!

@gettinaway You're bringing back the memories of motorcycle rides and tent camping up there. And, it was cold in July! Windy and cold but oh the beauty.

@Irishroze

@CherNohio @Irishroze I am ready for cold. I've always been a winter person. Even tent camped near Lake Superior in the winter several times. Stood at the Whitefish Point Lighthouse at midnight when it was -28*, not far from where the Edmund Fitzgerald sank.

@gettinaway @CherNohio

I've been all over the up either by car or snowmobile. Seney was a favorite spot. As well as tahquamenon falls!
I hope you have great luck with your shots and your camping!

@Irishroze @CherNohio Thank you! I'm looking forward to a few days alone. I've picked up a few more pieces of camera gear and accessories before I go. I'll spend the next clear nights practicing for the workshop. And it looks like fall leaves will be starting to show when I head out to the waterfalls. I like to capture fall leaves in the water or on the rocks near the water and a waterfall in the picture too is an added bonus.

@gettinaway
I've not been to that Refuge but have been in the UP. It's about as pure as it can get up there. So so beautiful. I'm envious and now really looking forward to your photographs!

The gift is so thoughtful and perfect for you. I'm sorry to know though that your mom is in hospice care. That's so very hard. Hugs to you and your family.

@CherNohio Thank you! She will turn 98 just before I head north. My dad was 95 when he passed. It's hard watching as they slip away.

The refuge is beautiful. We have access for all night for 3 nights of the workshop. Good chance there will be bear and wolves around too. I was surprised when they told me I was going.

@gettinaway
I remember you saying before that you were more a winter/cold person enjoying the elements of that season. I just didn't care for it in the summer month of July while riding the motorcycle LOL.

Do enjoy your time up there. Bears, wolves and natural beauty...oh my! 💜

@CherNohio Thanks! I've been checking and sorting through my gear. Looking to disappear for a few days!

@gettinaway Sorry about your mom. 😢 I just saw mid thread about the Seney stretch workshop.
@CherNohio

@Klaatu_Veratta_Nectarine @CherNohio Thank you! My mom's health hasn't been good, so it wasn't a big surprise to see it happen. It is exhausting though.

This workshop and the few extra days will be a chance to recharge some. The area I am heading to for the extra days has a number of waterfalls around it. It is also where the Pictured Rocks Natural Shoreline is located. Plus, loads of hiking trails.

@Klaatu_Veratta_Nectarine @CherNohio I haven't been up there in a few years. It is a long overdue trip!
