Faith Ringold - I am embarrassed to say that I was unaware of this artist 'til her death in April. Such is the oppression of talent, guess why?
Painter, quilter, children's literature author, she is particularly celebrated for her narrative quilts.

@gemswinc Faith Ringold is/was a great artist so I agree! I think the fact that she's both female and black was a factor in her not becoming better known, sorry to say.
