I've made Black ( Pearl ) Rice for the first time 😋
Wild rice is the seed of a semi aquatic plant, I Iearn, in a different genus from the others.
@LaurelGreen Aha! I just saw that it was also called "forbidden". This was the first time I'd seen it in the stores, and hadn't known of it before
@gemswinc I looked it up, it was forbidden to commoners, reserved for royalty, which
of course endeared me to it!
@LaurelGreen I suppose that's why I'd never heard of it 😉
okay... what does BLACK PEARL RICE taste like. work with me, please. i just keep staring at the rice in the cupboard. now that i know it came from a semi-aquatic plant- i don't know what to say to it anymore...
@QueenOfEverything It's the wild-rice that comes from a "semi-aquatic plant", that is chewy, and I've only had it in a mixture.
Black rice is subtle, nutty, and I like the distinctive color, purple/black
So what would you serve the Black Rice with... pork chops, chicken...
@QueenOfEverything Sure, though I cook neither anymore. I used "Beyond Beef Sausage"
@gemswinc I LOVE black rice. I discovered it years ago, it was called “forbidden rice”. My young daughter demanded to know how it was in the shelf in our market if it was forbidden. I tried it b/c of that, but stayed b/c its so good!
