“Georgia officials have dismissed all members of a state committee charged with investigating deaths of pregnant women. The move came in response to ProPublica having obtained internal reports detailing two deaths.”

Why? Because they didn’t like the leak that showed their deaths were preventable. So they think they fired the leakers. This is what happens when you try to suppress the truth.

Oh, yeah, the deaths are linked to the draconian anti abortion law.

What did they want to keep secret? The names? No. The deaths? No.

They wanted to keep secret that rhe deaths were ruled preventable.

And the reason was that the women COULD NOT ACCESS health services that would have saved their laws.

In other words, abortion.

Because politicians kill women, not doctors.

@feloneouscat

I can’t imagine what internal acrobatics are required to sustain the conviction that letting women die at the door of the hospital is somehow making America great or in God’s plan for redemption or…whatever. What “moral” complexities must be justified to get to & hold those positions? It seems unsustainable in anyone’s heart to hold such positions.

@ATXJane @feloneouscat

All some people have to do is say: "Well. *I* certainly wouldn't let that happen to *me*!"–and then they can go on their way, secure in their own feeling of superiority, and quite sure that whoever is suffering is merely getting what they deserve.

@feloneouscat
I think their narrative starts and ends with the idea that it’s all women’s fault so it’s ok if they suffer in the name of religion. Eve, the apple, the garden. They forgive men their ‘appetities’ but not women their biology.

@feloneouscat Thank you, thank you for sharing this. My sister's daughter that is due to graduate from college in May has a health problem that would kill her if she got pregnant. I can't recall what it is. My sister and her daughter are planning to leave the U.S. after her daughter graduates. I have 3 children of my own, 2 daughters and a son. I would do the same to protect my children! She and I would go to any length to protect our children. My sister lives in Florida.

@feloneouscat Regarding the”Thoughts and Prayers” Republican lawmakers are so quick to offer, let me offer a most sincere prayer: May the lawmakers who made the decisions that led to the deaths of these women live through the same hell they put these women, and their families, through.”
Feel free to offer up your own, similar, prayer.
