Yes, just like Russia, we have skipped Socialism and also skipped Russia's Communism and have gone straight to Russia's Authoritarianism.
So Khrushchev thought Socialism was the gateway drug to Communism? No wonder so many considered him an elite idiot but an idiot nonetheless
