“Republicans have likewise pointed to the full quote from Vance in response to criticism, which was: ‘I don’t like this. I don’t like to admit this. I don’t like that this is a fact of life. But if you are a psycho and you want to make headlines, you realize that our schools are soft targets, and we have got to bolster security at our schools.’”

Better? No. Make schools into prisons? Vance didn’t offer a solution, just something vague. Like a magic shield.

The problem with the full quote as with the partial is that it shows there is nothing behind this empty suit. His head is empty of solutions. He is full of handwaving that some person will come up with a magical solution that will prevent school shooting and allow psychos to have guns. Or that concerts, football games, shopping malls are also “soft targets”. Gabby Giffords wasn’t shot in a school. Neither was the attempt on Trump. And he had Secret Service.

No solution.

"Smith noted there were three school resource officers on campus at the time of the shooting."

@tgraph52

We’ve had cops with guns. Multiple cops with guns. Hell, Uvalde almost 400 officers. Who stood around and did nothing. Solution?

At what point do we say, “This whole make schools secure is just fucking bullshit. The problem is the guns!”—at what point?

How many have to die until we DO SOMETHING?

If Republicans have their way, it would be to do nothing. Just like they’ve done since 1999 in Columbine.

Republicans don’t give a damn about children.
