Co-Founder of Substack explaining why they will keep Nazi writings on the platform and not demonetize them:

“Given that, we don’t think that censorship (including through demonetizing publications) makes the problem go away—in fact, it makes it worse.”

Okay, so if people write a shit ton of articles about men abusing women, will you allow that? How about the KKK? At what point will you say, “Fuck no, this is too extreme?” Because I lost my rights to a safe abortion here in Texas.

People are being murdered by cops. Are you going to stand around and say, “Well, yeah, it’s bad, but PREVENTING that kind of talk just makes it worse” — how can it possibly be worse?!?!

A Neo-Nazi RAN DOWN Heather Heyer and killed her. What the fuck is worst than that?!?!?

But you think that shit is with monetizing over?

Seriously?

You know what’s worse than spreading Neo-Nazi bullshit?

Spreading and making money off of it.

That makes you a collaborator.

“I just want to make it clear that we don’t like Nazis either—we wish no-one held those views. But…”

You know, as a kid, I heard this shit a lot.

“I’m not a racist. But…”

@feloneouscat and demonetization is not censorship. Censorship is required in this case, but be that as it may, demonetization is just about money, not speech.

@feloneouscat I have to admit that all I know about this person is what you told us. But I don't really wonder why someone is a Nazi. I mean, it is all to do with upbringing and subsequent interaction with parts of the world. It would be really great if someone could find a way to deprogram such people. First maybe we need to stop them being created in the first place. Then try to save the ones who have been turned into monsters.
