“Introduced by Rep. Buddy Carter (R-GA), the Fair Tax Act would abolish the Internal Revenue Service and with it, the income, payroll, estate, and gift taxes.”

Not so fast sparky, the income tax was established via CONSTITUTIONAL AMENDMENT (see the Sixteenth) and you can’t toss it out with a measly bill. That would literally be unconstitutional.

It requires ANOTHER Amendment to eliminate it. Read the damn text of the Amendment.

Idiots.

@feloneouscat This would be a dumb move, but not unconstitutional. The 16th Amendment gives Congress the power to tax income, but doesn't mandate it. Congress can legally abolish income taxes by legislation.

Meh, you are correct. Overlooked “shall”.

But it would be a dumb move and hurt poor and middle clsss.
