87 year old British billionaire says he should not be sent to U.S. prison for insider trading because of his age.
Iโm not feeling empathetic.
@evamarie
So, what's the age where laws no longer apply? ๐
Under the Federal Sentencing Guidelines, a defendant can ask for a reduction in his/her sentence based on age. This request usually works better if the defendant has a serious medical condition (so taxpayers are not on the hook for big medical bills) but the judge has absolute discretion as to whether to grant the reduction and how much to reduce the sentence.
@evamarie It would be fun to barter with him though. He can stay out of jail, but he needs to turn over ALL of his money to help people, and live off of a public pension for the rest of his life.
Otherwise, off to jail mate.

Wait...im feeling something ...wait....nope...not feeling it.
