Forsea Foods in Israel is the first company to produce lab-grown freshwater eel meat. It aims to have its product on sale in about two years. theguardian.com/environment/20

@estherschindler 🤨 Hm Well, OK, I think the Tudors ate eel meat. 🤔

@estherschindler
I mean, eel meat probably tastes the same whether it comes from the moat around your ancestral castle or a lab... right? 😂

@janallmac Eel in many forms was very common as an inexpensive protein until pretty recently. Jellied eels was (and still is?) a popular local "delicacy" in and around London. Particularly associated with the East End and "Cockney" culture.
I'd say it's only really fallen out of favour in the last fifty or so years.
