Nearly 25,000 tech workers were laid off in the first weeks of 2024. Why is that?

@estherschindler
Because big companies are hiring in Mumbai and laying off local workers. It's happened in several companies where I and my friends work. Fortunately I wasn't one cut.
The companies believe their profit margins will increase without the expense of these workers.
The stigma associated with having to lay off workers disappears when everybody's doing it and making $$$$$$ in the bargsin.
