When I was giving a LOT of talks, I never simply read the slides, as way too many people do.
Your talk is the book, the slides are the ILLUSTRATIONS.
I dunno if Esther ever saw me give a presentation anywhere.

One of the most successful sales people I've known (President of Sales at a couple of multimillion dollar companies) once said he never used the slide deck. He wanted to have it, but would use one or two introductory slides and then just have a conversation. The deck was there, if he decided to pull up a visual, but mostly it only served as a backdrop.
