I'm surprised Dallas isn't more dominated by chains. We have a couple of major conglomerates that create chain restaurants (including Chili's, La Madeline, Maggiano's, Black Eyed Pea, and On the Border).

But we also, in recent years, have had an explosion of independent restaurants, so they must balance that.
