I got in a conversation with someone whose company gives remote employees a regular stipend — $150/quarter or some such — to improve their home office setup. After a while, he said, he’d filled in the stuff he needed, such as webcam, monitor, chair, headphones.

That made me curious. If your company gave you money to outfit the home office (or you wish they did), what would you spend it on? After the usual suspects mentioned above, that is?

@estherschindler That’s a sweet deal. Not only do I not get a stipend, I can’t write off office expenses any more. I’d buy bookshelves, filing cabinets, and eventually a new office chair. The gaming chair I have is not great. And then some cheap art.

@estherschindler Now I’m going to ask for an office stipend. They have zero physical plant overhead for me, and I know they bill for it. I’m 100% remote.
