HIVE MIND: Have you attended any virtual conferences, professional or otherwise? Tell me about the things that worked well. This could be anything, from presentation tips, to efficiently-managed breakout rooms, to finding ways to engage participants. How did it make a difference?
I’m writing an article about how companies can run better online events, so thinking “ideas worth stealing.” Give me details!

The simplest additions to any online meeting, is when the presenter uses a "virtual whiteboard" and writes down notes taken from the whole group.

I was in one a week or so ago, the presenter used an old iPad, as a second screen, and used an Apple pencil to write notes, as she lifted the pencil, the handwriting recognition system put the note into text, clear for all to read.

@corlin Oh that DOES sound excellent! Just what I was hoping for!

Also drawing shapes, and highlighting, or lines from this to that. All snap into place, making a clear diagram in real time.
Also extremely easy to start a new page, or go back to an older one.

@estherschindler

One conference had some presentations prerecorded (quite recently before the event), & other presentations streamed live with registered audience participation by both chat & video. All available on a webpage, arranged by conference schedule & tracks.
With a live audience, it is extremely helpful if questions are repeated by speaker.
Don't ask a speaker to host/manage the chat.

@estherschindler

Q&A panels at several sessions during a conference were popular & promoted interaction between multiple presenters & with audiences.
Skillful host management, not burdening presenters.
Sound /streaming checks especially if presenters or hosts not experienced with formats.
Curated comments forums.
Possibly, a How to Prep for this conference page, with optional resources.
If presenter will use visual aids, separate camera, so people can examine better as they choose.
