One result of the coronavirus pandemic: A lot of us are having trouble focusing on reading. https://www.chronicle.com/article/A-Side-Effect-of-the-Covid-19/248568
@Knitpurrl Indeed.
I have added several books to my TO BE READ pile but am making sorry progress.
...which has not kept me from BUYING more books, you understand.
@estherschindler I’m a huge book lover and I’m finding that it’s harder to really sink into a book too. It’s a low grade constant anxiety, like an itch you can’t scratch and it’s distracting in an ongoing way.
One good thing... I’ve been using the library app Libby for ebooks since I can’t go to the library and I set my 90 yr old Dad up on it too. It’s great for him bec he can adjust the light and font size. Also, we’re stumbling across new books to read that we never would have found 1/2
@estherschindler 2/2 in the library because we both have favorite authors that we fall back on to read over and over again. But these older authors aren’t in ebook form 🤣 so we have to branch out💕💕💕 So good and bad... shorter attention span but wider reading range 💕😊💕 🧼🤲🧼
This is familiar to me, as someone with cPTSD, anxiety, and depression. Hypervigilence and stress lead to mental exhaustion.
Nothing to do but try to achieve small tasks. Break things down into tiny, bite-size chunks. And be OK with only getting a couple of them done. Focus on the essentials--shelter, food, housing, bills. All else is less urgent.
@estherschindler Excellent article 😊💕😊. 🧼🤲🧼
