@Oldguyaz Yeah, the thing is that we DON'T have choice. We're stuck with whoever shows up... when we are hurting and in no position to reject the option.

Honestly, a "Public Option" doesn't really do it. I refuse to accept a half measure.

Healthcare is FUBAR in the US, and nothing short of a drastic shakeup is going to stifle the greed. It's like an animal bite. Gotta pull the teeth out of the wound before you start to bandage it and stop the bleeding.

@estherschindler @Oldguyaz

@Heucuva8 @estherschindler @Oldguyaz I honestly LOVE my insurance - employer sponsored; employee/employer paid. I'm not fond of the whole "Medicare of All" - I'm all for Medicare for All that Want It. I want to keep my private insurance.

When people say that, I feel it's because they don't understand it. Right now, your plan is gouging prices and stacking the deck against you...especially if you don't make significant income. I can't even afford the monthly premiums to HAVE insurance. And we have 2 incomes 40+ hrs/week. I had to choose medical insurance or food, gas, and electricity. You would pay more in taxes, but less than you pay a private company just in case you get sick.

@LilMaggie15 @estherschindler @Oldguyaz

@Heucuva8 @estherschindler @Oldguyaz totally understand that. I think it's more fear of the unknown. Will I still be able to get most of my medication for free, or at low co-pays? Can i see my doctor in a reasonable timeframe (I see my docs every 2-3 months for health issues), will I be able to get my tests like I do today... :(

Yes and yes. Ask people who live in Canada about wait times for treatment. Ask Dennis Detwiller (an incredible artist I know, did work for Magic: the Gathering and Delta Green among other things) He moved there just before Lord Dampnut took over.

@LilMaggie15 @estherschindler @Oldguyaz

@Heucuva8 @estherschindler @Oldguyaz why do i get the feeling the US would find a way to fluff it up? :( :(

@LilMaggie15 @Heucuva8 @ because one thing the United States is good at is innovation some one should figure out a way to beat the system !Everybody against single payer would point to it to scare people back to the old system !The system now from a billing point of view is ridiculous you have X number of insurance company’s with X numbers of different policies that cover or don’t cover different things and only pay fixed amounts!Dr I think spend more money on collecting payments and insurance

@Heucuva8 @LilMaggie15 @estherschindler @Oldguyaz

well, we do have our wait times & issues w/ doc & nurse shortages - particularly in rural areas. but that's more about issues w/ conservative govts trying to privatize hc in their provs. health care falls to prov jurisdiction (mostly). feds try to preserve the public aspect.

that being said, it won't bankrupt you to receive treatment; we do have some of the best options in the world & i've always appreciated the access & care i've needed.

@LilMaggie15 @Heucuva8 @estherschindler @Oldguyaz and most likely it will be different. Not better or worse, necessarily, but different.

@LilMaggie15 your getting it when your older doesn’t it make sense to improve the system before you on it! Remember Your happy now but say you get sick and your then laid off !With that pre-existing Condition good luck plus future employment could be affected Because of your health history they won’t admit it but they do !

@Oldguyaz oh, I agree. I see that with some friends of mine. :(

@Heucuva8 @estherschindler @Oldguyaz

People in the US have literally been deliberately brainwashed to believe there is inherent wrong in something being 'non-profit'.

@Heucuva8 @estherschindler how about you give everyone a Us Citizens health insurance Visa or Master card Or Like Snap Card their all run thru Chase Bank good deal for Chase they get their % from the whole Gov program on top of the 400 billion bail out !WoWThey worked kind of like trump for their Money! Anyway a CC for health that covers everything know administration cost totally autonomous !Anyone cheating the system Beyond A shadow of a doubt is shot! The administrative savings = huge!

@Oldguyaz @Heucuva8 @estherschindler
I did recently read that if everyone in the US got universal health care it would mean a $64B savings.

@estherschindler yup that why you better off going to someone than seeing who shows up! I passed out once in a store low blood sugar or heart?They called an ambulance nice of them cost me $375.00 no problem 2 months later I get a bill for $675.00 for a fire truck with EMT had to explsin I wasn’t on fire !Long story short it was a company called rural metro they went bankrupt to bad for them
