The US has announced plans to ban the sale of antivirus software made by Russian firm Kaspersky due to its alleged links to the Kremlin.

The plan will effectively bar downloads of software updates, resales and licensing of the product from 29 September and new business will be restricted within 30 days of the announcement.
@csforyou initial thread was actually a twitter thread from someone which isn't available anymore - I did a few posts about it though

Basically the code is from a Russian developer and anyone can buy
https://codecanyon.net/item/colibrism-the-ultimate-php-modern-social-media-sharing-platform/26612898
which Bouzy did and nothing wrong with that except bouzy claimed he wrote all code himself building the site up from the ground - when caught he denied he purchased the code - then admitted it eventually in a wired article
@th3j35t3r stick to the rules or you ain't getting rewarded that's 101 real, genuine, bug bounty, researchers would know that
Love that they gave the returned funds away after getting it back - that's a slap in the face to they "researchers" for the win

@opie indeed I got goosebumps when I first saw they two quick tiles 😆
@maybeimaleo this is my 1st pixel ever since the first google devices the Nexus ones
I went for pixel 7a and got a really good deal via a contract with my mobile provider
https://counter.social/@ecksmc/112599921492046215
For the price the pixel 7a is good and video review via that URL tells you why its a valid option in 2024 - as for settings its almost identical to the pixel 8 obvs pixel 8 has a few differences hardware wise but price difference is massive
I do like that on the Pixel I can swipe down to the quick tiles and block camera and Mic from being used by all apps
That's a nice feature to have when you don't use a camera often like me easy to toggle Available/Blocked
I have mine blocked constantly lol
Mic I only toggle to available when needed for calls then back to blocked for all apps
I like that addition
there are.some features im gonna miss from my older smartphone that ain't on the Pixel
adaptive battery for one where i can set individual apps I'm not using often and fully restrict them - which i do a lot when I'm using certain apps at certain times ik when to fully restrict and when not to - pixel doesn't have that setting - Pixel only has an adaptive charging setting 🤷♂️
and setting a schedule to switch device into battery saving mode again pixel ain't got that
those two are noticeable
been using it for about a week or so myself
its really fast and modules you don't need can be toggled of once it opens for you just tap on any of the green stuff to expand or initiate the module
and then pick what browser you wanna open the url in at bottom a dropdown menu with all your browsers show 😜
@JV3MJD Allison Gill is the George Santos of political podcasts 😆
One of the most flagrant lies is about her grandfather dying in WWII. He survived. That's how Allison's mom was born, which is how Allison was born. And more lies she's a lying grifter
for Android user ICYMI
This application acts as an intermediary when opening url links.
https://counter.social/@ecksmc/112637034324970454
Set it as your default browser and enable the modules via module settings & you're good to go its a great tool that can help with URLs - it also strips all that url junk, like CoSo Sanitizer does, via the URL cleaner module - and will unshorten they URLs that are shortened via services via the UnShortener module - and much more - its pretty impressive
Social Engineering Scams Help Spark Uptick in Cybercrime
Notably, Gen Z and millennial employees are less confident identifying and responding to cyber threats than their older colleagues.

"Nobody can ever trust Fox News, and I am one of them, with the weak and ineffective RINO, Paul Ryan, on its Board of Directors," Trump wrote on Truth Social
"He's a total lightweight, a failed and pathetic Speaker of the House, and a very disloyal person."
"Rupert and Lachlan, get that dog off your Board — You don't need him," he said, ordering Fox mogul Rupert Murdoch and his son Lachlan around, then "ALL YOU NEED IS TRUMP. MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN!"
meanwhile:
Trump was just being coy when he said he'd be a dictator on Day One. The convicted conman has already installed himself as the authoritarian MAGA king, and he is now commanding Fox to fire former House speaker Paul Ryan from its board
Apparently, King Trump is furious with Ryan, a Republican — and Fox, which is guilty by association — for being "disloyal" to him.
@GreenCheese lol
can highlight anything via any toot and get a Google search overlay appear at bottom swipe up opens that overlay to a full page - its a neat trick and good for fast searches like definitions and the like
