there are.some features im gonna miss from my older smartphone that ain't on the Pixel

adaptive battery for one where i can set individual apps I'm not using often and fully restrict them - which i do a lot when I'm using certain apps at certain times ik when to fully restrict and when not to - pixel doesn't have that setting - Pixel only has an adaptive charging setting 🤷‍♂️

and setting a schedule to switch device into battery saving mode again pixel ain't got that

those two are noticeable

Follow

also with my older device it force closes certain apps when i lock the screen, again pixel ain't got this, my older device has learnt my habits and only force closes certain apps after using them leaving the more frequent apps i use alone

they three settings saved loadsa battery % 🔋 gonna miss them

I do like that on the Pixel I can swipe down to the quick tiles and block camera and Mic from being used by all apps

That's a nice feature to have when you don't use a camera often like me easy to toggle Available/Blocked

I have mine blocked constantly lol

Mic I only toggle to available when needed for calls then back to blocked for all apps

I like that addition

Oh my bad I just found the adaptive battery setting lol it was tucked away at bottom of battery saver section ^expand^ to toggle on/off

Still no restricted mode for apps lol

@ecksmc Out on our bikes today, we discovered and wandered into the Google Store in Mountain View. They're having a sale thru Saturday. Seriously considering – haven't had one since the first Pixel, and my cheap Android has had a broken screen for w hile now.

@maybeimaleo this is my 1st pixel ever since the first google devices the Nexus ones

I went for pixel 7a and got a really good deal via a contract with my mobile provider

For the price the pixel 7a is good and video review via that URL tells you why its a valid option in 2024 - as for settings its almost identical to the pixel 8 obvs pixel 8 has a few differences hardware wise but price difference is massive

@ecksmc I'm pricing them out and looking at specs. I might go for one. But I tend to break screens, and I can get a lot of Android for under $200 these days. (Currently a NUU, which few people have heard of - nice phone.)

My Pixel (model 1, company paid) had Gorilla glass, but it cracked falling out of a loose pocket onto pavement. I slapped acrylic over it and used it for another year.

@ecksmc

I have camera/mic blocked all the time on all droid devices...love it...

@opie indeed I got goosebumps when I first saw they two quick tiles 😆
