Also #Android & #iOS a new browser app
With the Startpage app, private search meets private browsing. Just like the Startpage search privacy promise you’re familiar with, the app NEVER stores or shares your searches or browsing history. Plus, unlike other big tech companies, we never use your data to train AI models.

@corlin not yet
I have installed it on one Android that use for "testing" apps but not actually used it yet - weekend task for playing around when got more time - it'll probably be like the duckduckgo browser app or at least similar
I much prefer just setting search engines via chrome, chromium browsers, search engine settings with shortcuts then I can pick which engine to use per-search
@corlin I do like Startpage as a search engine though it's one I use a lot via the chrome omnibox(address bar) search engine settings shortcut 😉
@ecksmc
Yep.
This is what I do.
Pick different engines for different tasks.
@corlin yeah it's a must
Chrome for android though doesn't allow you to set shortcuts or add new search engines - also on android they used to allow you to not set a default browser giving you a pop-up at bottom of screen to pick a browser when clicking a link but they now require a default picked
So installing a few browser can be useful and using URLCheck app you can still pick a browser

And have some neat *things* enabled that checks the URL itself & more
Does the ad agency still hold a majority ownership in Startpage?
@TwistedWhim System1
Yeah they do and a lot of controversy about it I know
But I still regard it a good search engine for certain things
This was posted around the time it all hit the fan
Do I trust them 100% << hell no but I use Google as well 🤷♂️
@ecksmc
Have you used this?
Opinion ?
