Just in case this was not general knowledge, the riot in the UK was in Southport, which is a coastal town in Lancashire. The earlier stabbings of multiple children occurred in Stockport, which is over 50 miles inland from Southport.
A lot of people seem to think that the stabbings and the riots occurred in the same town.
They did not.
@gshevlin Respectfully, the stabbings *were* in Southport, just 20 miles north of Liverpool. It's a seaside town that many of us would visit just as a day trip to the beach or the fair or just to walk around the promenade. It's a pretty quiet place that still has (had?) a Victorian vibe.
I know there's been rioting there but also in London too, egged on by racists, including the despicable Farage.
@BillyBones @gshevlin exactly
Clashes did happen in Southport & London
More than 100 arrested in London in Whitehall
"Police clashed with protesters on Whitehall, close to Downing Street, during a demonstration following the fatal stabbings of three girls at Taylor Swift-themed dance class in Southport, Merseyside, on Monday" -- BBC earlier tonight
@BillyBones live BBC feed
police van has been set alight, with bottles and wheelie bins thrown at officers, in ongoing clashes in Southport
@BillyBones @gshevlin Southport community actually helped save local businesses by pulling together and stopping looting - they far right fucks just used this as reason to riot
@ecksmc Yeah, I read a post a few hours ago from a local security firm offering free guards for any local kids' events for any local orgs that are worried.
