@Armchaircouch Yup, I had a friend who had one. Weird dude...
And confirmed. They smell awful.
it's almost bizarre. I can't imagine what it IS. @kel
@Armchaircouch @kel not really a mystery like many animals the natural musky odor of ferrets comes from their scent glands (most notably the anal glands) and is used for territorial marking
That said commercially available ferrets in the United States are “de-scented,” which means that they have gone through a surgical procedure to remove their anal glands
@kel @Armchaircouch lmao
Yeah although it should be noted that if owners don't clean their cages and toys and blankets regularly the stink is worse
if you pick a ferret up and sniff it you might find that they actually don’t smell that much at all. However, the most common causes of offensive smell in the household are the build-up of oils, from their skin glands which stink out their blankets, toys, cages etc....
Blame the owners if you come across a stinky one 😉
@Armchaircouch @kel I've none a lot of ferret owners
We used them for hunting down the local glens send them down holes to flush other animals out etc....
*retroactively blames owner* lol! @ecksmc
Kel if you go nose-blind, dooo iiittt @kel
