My credit card expired, and while I notified those subscriptions/services I wish to keep, I also let it serve to end some. Like Paypal, which has given me grief in the past.
Unfortunately, Paypal sent me a cheery letter, letting me know that they had taken it upon themselves to update my payment info.
WTF? They know my new code and expiration date? Who gave it to them?
This is especially concerning since I frequently get notes saying questionable activity has happened so redo pwd.
@BlueStateBabe if paypal has access to your bank as well as any card
anytime you get a new card from your bank paypal will get that cards info without you inputting it the info comes straight from your bank they update your card details automatically with paypal
you do need to have your bank account linked with paypal that gives paypal access to your full bank account hence the auto update from new cards
@ecksmc This is the first service that ever did that "for" me. And they are the one I wanted to drop.
Now I can't remember my pwd to close the account, and the confirmation phone number is my old one I gave up 6 or 7 years ago. Sigh...
@ecksmc BTW, thanks for filling me in! :)
@BlueStateBabe o worries
best thing you can do is unsibscribe from ALL services that you used paypal to pay
find an alternative like ore-paid direct debit/credit card or if you are in america us
https://privacy.com/ only for US peeps
pre-paid cards you can get free some charge a small monthly charge which can vary but they can come in handy
@ecksmc I just used paypal to pay online, not wanting to give out CC info. But my account got hacked too many times.
@BlueStateBabe that privacy dot com is used by a lot in here
Personally i have a few bank accounts my main one i never use for anything but ongoing payments then i transfer funds into whatever bank i need to pay for subscriptions and contactless payments
So, at any time i only have the correct amount in any bank account for making payments automatically
Everything else other than contactless is cash in hand
@ecksmc That’s a good idea.
