Huawei is launching a newspaper and internet campaign to mark 20 years of business in the UK.

In an open letter to the public, the Chinese telecoms company says it is "as committed as ever" to provide "the best equipment" to the UK's 5G mobile and full-fibre broadband providers.

It comes amid a new security review that could lead the UK government to ban use of Huawei's 5G network kit.

The initiative follows a report in Saturday's Daily Telegraph, which said London-headquartered bank HSBC fears it could face reprisals in China, if the UK acts against Huawei.

i'm no expert

but keep in mind this all started

"Huawei is at the center of tensions with Washington over technology and possible spying that helped to spark Trump's tariff war with China in 2018"

trump didn't get his own way throws a hissy fit

has anyone seen any real evidence of anything yet??

@ecksmc I question Huawei intentions.The U.K must search for an alternative telecommunications company preferably in Europe.

@AkomoCombine really??

it's all hype from Trump

jan 2020

A document published by the National Cyber Security Centre (NCSC) indicates that the UK's networks will have three years to comply with the caps on the use of Huawei's equipment.

"Huawei is reassured by the UK government's confirmation that we can continue working with our customers to keep the 5G rollout on track," the firm's UK chief Victor Zhang said in a statement.

@AkomoCombine At the same time the Trump administration has not let up in its campaign for the UK and other allies to exclude Huawei entirely

and only last week Trump kinda threatened the UK

"deal with them you don't deal with us"

@ecksmc Eriksson is is an option as well and its based in Sweden. A safer route until we know China's intentions.

@AkomoCombine i just don't buy all this hype

after all UK use Huawei in the infrastructure already and have done for donkeys years

no mention of anything until Trump took office right??

@AkomoCombine Experts say Britain’s change of attitude is partly due to concerns that refusing to cooperate with the U.S on Huawei will pose a threat to intelligence sharing and joint defense capabilities with its major ally.

that's the nuts and bolts on this change from UK gov

@AkomoCombine

That leaves Ericsson and Nokia.

Sure, there's smaller NEPs out there, but if you need end to end solution that actually understand operators and are capable - those are the three you can pick from.
