On November 20, 1972 (approx 51 years ago) a relatively unknown trio from New York called Wicked Lester held a showcase for Epic Records at the bands loft on 23rd Street in Manhattan. Epic Records executive Don Ellis had previously decided to pass on the band’s album (recorded as a 5 piece band) which combined elements of rock, pop, and funk. This new version of the band was more hard rock, and they wore white face makeup.
