@duglop
My train has jumped your track. Usually I follow your message pretty well. Can you elaborate?
(Here's my signature friendly snek 🐍 to clarify my genuinely curious tone)
@Helical_Code that's from the employer for Thomas Matthew Crooks
@Helical_Code let's put it like this - they didn't notice anything out of the norm about him in any way shape or form over the past few days? Granted no one has magic words to say during a tragedy like this - but that gives another "thoughtas & prayers" kind of vibe to me...
@Helical_Code that's 1 of the 1st questions they'll ask them - did anything seem different? I'm bouncing back & forth between tv and here - I think I misread/misinterpreted what you said (I got ahead of myself - my apologies - this happened a couple times so, it's gotta either be the TV or the PC today lol)
@Helical_Code yes sometimes it can be difficult if not impossible to tell if things are good or just ok or something is off beat... again, to me this felt like a hurried reply just to get it out there, they said they couldn't go into details, which makes sense - I'm sure we'll eventually get a much broader deeper reply about it from them - at least 1 would hope so
@duglop
Thanks for sticking with me and sharing your insights.
The one thing I noticed in the statement was the word "former" - to me, this is a shibboleth, and so created some distance from Trump.
If I understood the shooter's job correctly, then I think he could have had pretty limited interactions with the people who formulated the statement.
When things like this happen, yeah, stuff may occur to them in hindsight that could, if you'd squinted, have seemed off? But, like, most people don't let it all hang out w/colleagues. At minimum, we mostly code switch into our "at work" persona. I very specifically hardly ever even glance in the direction of political talk at work, for example, which is FOR SURE NOT my true persona.
@CLManussier @Helical_Code me neither - I avoid politics at work to keep the peace... but I also interact with people outside of work... just saying
Right now, none of my work acquaintances are IRL friends, tho. So, going on the thesis about what people at work sgould/might have noticed or suspected... 🤷♀️
@duglop Ah, I see. Certainly it's self=serving for the employers not to have noticed anything. I have known a number of pretty intense introverts, and so find it plausible that someone could keep their true intentions that buttoned up.
I knew a guy from college who was pretty introverted, and knew at his core he was dissatisfied with the state of his life. We lost touch, and a few years later, I saw his picture in the paper - he had murdered someone in a drug dispute. I was genuinely shocked.
