This actually doesn't make a whole lot of sense... putting the ten commandments in every public school classroom...
Public schools are not the same as Catholic schools
I said what I said..

@duglop That's a violation of church and state Not everyone at public schools is "Christian".

@Iveyjanette1 We all know that but have you been paying attention what's going on because that's where we're at right now...

@duglop I have. And it's not right at all. Those of us who aren't evangelical are the ones being persecuted by these racist, fascist assholes. They want to impose 1950's values. Madelyn Murray O'Hair is turning in her grave. Her lawsuit made sure public schools are secular and (supposedly) tolerant for all.

@Iveyjanette1 You went really deep with it which is at the heart of the matter yes, but I was at the very tip of it the surface just from the standpoint of the difference between a Catholic school and a public school

@duglop Sorry if I confused you. I went to public school. My brother went to what would now be considered a "Christian heritage academy" so he could be "disciplined better" aka get away from gangbangers like my cousins at public school. They ENFORCED that Bible shit on him and fellow students. Including the Ten Commandments on the board. And lots of prayer time instead of learning reading etc. Indoctrinating kids early. Plus spanking students.

@Iveyjanette1 our public school spanked students in the 80's - parents were furious but it still happened a lot... there was an after school religion class for students (I forget the school name for it actually) but there was criteria to meet first - my neighbor went to it every Wednesday - the point is back then schools recognized the need for separation of church/state but also worked around those regulations in a non intruding kind of way

@duglop We had that at my elementary school. They didn't offer Catholic, Jewish or Muslim religious release,so it was at the local Baptist church next to the freeway. Where a lot of kids went for child care before and after school anyway. It was different from the private "Christian school" my brother went to. It was more informal, and they didn't push anything onto you. And yes, they spanked in the late 60's and early 70's. I fought teachers over it. So did my mom and other parents/guardians.

@Iveyjanette1 for some reason the word remedial is coming to mind but I pretty sure that is the wrong term. I just can't remember it... My Catholic neighbor never spoke of it at all, never shared anything he learned about it or as a result or in the class and I think the class is only an hour long... Hell for all I know the name of the class could have just been called Religion...

@duglop Ours was just called "released time",which was the last 45 minutes of school on Tuesdays. That was usually PE time anyway at my elementary school. It was mostly the stuff they talked about at Sunday school, which is usually the one part of church kids like at Black churches: it's not 3 hours long like the actual service lol. I stopped going to church after the pastor kicked me out of the band for playing drums at age 15.
