America of truly has become soft I get the better be safe than sorry stuff Don't get me wrong but they were calling for 8 in of snow by the time we woke up this morning we don't even have an inch of snow and school is canceled what has America become?

Let me rethink this because the snow is still coming and we are going to get a hell of a lot more. I just think it's too early to be calling off school even though schools generally use a certain amount of snow days a year regardless... Back in the day they would at least start the day and send us home early but in today's day and age it's totally different so yeah I get it 😁

@Jezibaba hey darling... Much much better thank you for asking I woke up yesterday with no pain but I waited around till about 1:00 and decided yeah I'm going to try to go to work and it went quite well there was one point where I did get a little bit of a scare when something snapped with a little momentary pain but it didn't last long so I think it was just whatever was out of place popped back in place

@duglop Most excellent news. May it stay in place. 😁

@duglop I'm misbehaving, as always. 😏 I'm good.

@duglop that’s what it was like when I lived in Oklahoma. If snow was in the forecast, schools would close before it started snowing and most of the time, it would end up not snowing. 🤦🏻‍♀️
But in Montana…..I swear there’s no such thing as a snow day 😂

@duglop

It has become evident over time that it's safer not to send busloads of kids out onto sketchy roads in the first place ~ on days when a snow cancelation is anticipated, not that much gets done during the time AT school. And then, it's potentially white-knuckle driving to get them home again when you realize waiting until 3-ish o'clock isn't possible.

School busses aren't that safe in a wreck, and sliding into a ditch or being unable to get safely up/down hills is for real.

@CLManussier okay thanks for that explanation but the simple fact is they respecting 8 in of snow by 9:00 this morning it is now noon we still don't even have an inch of viable snow on the ground

@duglop This is gonna sound like an uphill both ways comment. I can remember 3ft snows with roads closed, school busses cancelled and school still was not cancelled.

@duglop Our first year in MD, we awoke to a skiff (that's what we called it in WA) or light dusting of snow. School cancelled. also cancelled when temp hit 32. I told my girls how astonished I was, because I bundled them up to go to school with over a foot of new snow and temps in the 20's. They were 😮

@wolfwoman I was born in DC and spent my first 4 years of my life in Hyattsville Maryland
